The Advanced Manufacturing Certificate (AMC) pathway is one example of how Kettle Moraine High School strives to meet the needs of all students and their learning pathways by maximizing partnerships with local manufacturers.  

With support from GPS Education Partners – an organization that works to create partnerships between local businesses and education – the District began working with Generac Power Systems in Eagle and General Electric (GE) in Waukesha to provide students on the AMC pathway the opportunity to engage mentors on-site for immersive, hand-on experiences in real-world settings, supplemented by in-classroom work. 

Students participating in the AMC pathway are introduced to a real-world work setting early and have the opportunity to earn transcripted technical college credit with Waukesha County Technical College. All students will walk away with employable skills that are relevant to current industry needs and standards.

The program earned acclaim during a visit by President Barack Obama, who recognized Kettle Moraine High School, GPS Education Partners, GE and Generac for their collaborative efforts to create manufacturing youth apprenticeship opportunities for students at Kettle Moraine High School. Kettle Moraine School District received a Recognition of Innovaiton (ROI) award from GPS Education Partners in October of 2014 to recognize the collaboration between GPS Education Partners, our school district, Generac Power Sytems and GE in Waukesha through the support of Waukesha County Technical College in creating the Advanced Manufacturing Certificate Pathway.
