College Entrance Exams

  • ACT - The ACT is designed to assess high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.  The test covers four skill areas:  English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning.  The composite score is the average of a student’s scores on these four tests.  An optional writing test is also available and some schools require it, so we recommend checking on the post-secondary school’s website to find out for sure. It is the student’s responsibility to send scores to post-secondary schools and this can be done by going directly to the website: www.act.org

  • SAT - SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is the College Board’s test of developed verbal, mathematical reasoning abilities, and writing skills, given on specified dates throughout the year at test centers in the United States.

  • PSAT - The PSAT/NMSQT is a shorter version of the SAT administered by high schools each year in October. This test is geared for students in grades 10 & 11. The Junior year test results is the qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
