RILEY VERTZ SELECTED AS GREEN BAY PACKERS GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE!! The Green Bay Packers nominated Vertz for her tenacity and incredible stats. Not only is Riley the team captain and leading scorer, she maintains a 3.9 GPA and is heavily involved in volunteer work. Riley, a senior, has contributed to the Laser's nearly perfect season, making them the top seed in post-season play. Each NFL club selected one player based on their outstanding on-field performance, academic achievement and community service. Riley is now in the running for the Maxwell Club/NFL National Girls Flag Football Player of the Year Award. The winner will be selected later this month and will be honored at the 88th Maxwell Awards at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta in March. “The opportunity to continue the Maxwell Club’s mission of promoting all aspects of football and amplifying the amazing efforts of young women who are pioneering the game of flag football is a great honor,” said Mark Wolpert, executive director of the Maxwell Football Club. “The players, coaches and organizations who have championed the development of the game are to be commended, and the opportunities that now exist for girls and young women will continue to grow. The support of the National Football League is a huge driver for the growth of this game and the Maxwell Football Club is excited to play a part in recognizing excellence both on and off the football field for these amazing athletes.”
