CHECK OUT FRIDAY'S ISSUE OF LASER FOCUSED WITH ANYTHING GOES!!!! We went backstage Wednesday to meet the cast, crew, and musicians who brought this amazing performance to life! The set was beautiful. KMSD'S MUSIC PROGRAM IS MULTI-FACETED!!! The robust music curriculum in KM goes far beyond concerts and performances. A well-balanced music education requires students to undertake major academic work including deciphering a rich content-specific vocabulary, decoding music notation with fluency, speed, and accuracy, and analysis and application of expressive intent and contextual connections. In addition to the academic and performative skills that students develop through music participation, our KM students also apply their musical talents to serve the local KM community, in alignment with the Graduate Profile. Here you see middle school orchestra students undertaking a process known as 'score study'. After analyzing a piece of music as a group, students make determinations about whether the piece is appropriate for their ensemble. Students love to choose the music they study and perform!

KMHS CAMPUS RECOGNIZED AS AP® SCHOLAR HONOR ROLL SCHOOL! Schools included in this recognition have AP programs that are delivering results for students while broadening access. Good morning and we hope you are enjoying the first week of school! We've made a few changes to our website over the summer that we'd like to share with you. Our new platform combines all of our communication tools into one environment, saving us time and money; making us more efficient; but also, allowing us to utilize a system that works well on mobile devices and provides the features users have come to expect. We realize change takes time, and we'd like to offer a few simple tips to help our KM Community navigate the new site.
We have provided a video tour, at https://vimeo.com/859950194?sh. Remember to re-bookmark your frequently visited pages and add us to your contacts! There is also a mobile app that can be downloaded using the page footer or the links below.
For a quick summary of the navigation, there are two primary drop down menus in the upper right corner of every page. They are "schools" and "menu." Schools will allow you to select a location. Menu will allow you to select information that pertains to that location. The + symbols in the menu reveal additional pages in that category.
If you have questions or are having trouble finding things, feel free to contact me at ottosara@kmsd.edu
Download the app to receive notifications and access information quickly and easily on your mobile device!

The first day of school is always an exciting time. This year, the District Office leadership took a field trip to visit with teachers and students. It is always great to get out of the office and into classrooms to share in our students' learning. The high school and middle school students were already delving into subject matter and getting settled into their routines.
